Tony Cornect

PC MHA for Port au Port District

Tony Cornect is a bilingual native of Port au Port and is passionate about his home, heritage and culture. For many years, he has been an active force in the volunteer community, serving on a variety of associations and community organizations.

He has accumulated a vast amount of experience, having served as both Deputy Mayor and Mayor for the Town of Cape St. George, political assistant to M.H.A. Joan Burke and most recently as the newly elected member for the District of Port au Port.

On October 30, 2007, he was appointed by Premier Williams to serve as the Whip for the Progressive Conservative Caucus in the House of Assembly.

This, along with work experience in the fields of media, economic development and sales, has afforded Tony with a well-rounded skill set.

Tony is one of 11 children born to the late Wallace and late Mildred Cornect of Cape St. George. He presently resides in Kippens with his wife, Stacey and son, Marcus.
