Terry was born on February 3, 1953. He is married to Vivian (nee Murphy), and they are the parents of two children - Stacy Christopher and Mallory Loder - both residents of Summerside.

Terry completed a Clerk Accounting Course at Fisher Tech in Corner Brook. He obtained CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) Designation through the Institute of Canada. He has been certified a Level Three Firefighter through the Oklahoma State University.

• Layminister with the St. Paul's Anglican Church in Summerside
