Progressive Conservative Party Leader Danny Williams and Party President John Babb announced that, with the close of nominations at 12 noon on September 12, 2007, Patty Pottle would be the PC candidate in the October 9, 2007 general election in Torngat Mountains district.

On October 30, 2007, following the 2007 general election, Premier Williams appointed Ms. Pottle to serve as Minister of Aboriginal Affairs.
